Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national parks and nature reserves have a wide variety of flora and fauna, and its mountain areas are home to wild bears and lynx. The Serbian government has also recently taken initiatives to conserve these species of animals. The importance of wildlife in Bosnia and Herzegovina has led to ecotourism becoming a very popular activity. Tours of nature reserves and national parks are an important niche in the country’s tourist industry, and these activities are offered by both local tourist offices and private travel agencies.
