The GüiráOga wildlife refuge ("the house of the birds" in the Guarani language) was born based on the need to have an establishment that would be located in the same missionary jungle and work with the native fauna of the place.
It was founded on August 23, 1997 by Jorge Anfuso and Silvia Elsegood, naturalists and specialists in the rehabilitation of birds of prey, current directors of the refuge.
